If you have an aggressive form of cancer, like mesothelioma, you're probably interested in doing everything you possibly can to fight the disease. While reports vary on the effectiveness of changing your diet, it certainly does not hurt to concentrate on eating superfoods that help your immune system and overall health.
What foods may be most beneficial? Below is a helpful list of some of the best:
- Onions and shallots
- Mustard greens
- Bok choy
- Pomegranate juice
- Turmeric (often called curcumin)
- Green tea
On the whole, shifting your diet to focus on vegetables, and especially raw ones, is generally considered beneficial to a person's health. A healthy diet strengthens your body and helps you deal with medical treatments and recovery.
Changing your diet is not the only step you'll take, in the vast majority of cases. Many medical treatments can be used as well, such as chemotherapy. However, diet is an easy step you can take at home to help, along with your other treatments. When these treatments are hard on your body, as they fight the cancer, having a healthy diet can also strengthen you and help you get through that process. So, even if you do not believe that healthy foods will help cure the cancer itself, your dietary changes can still be very helpful.
If you have cancer due to asbestos exposure, remember that this treatment process can be expensive and is not guaranteed to cure the disease. It's important that you know all of your legal options.
